Western Playing Card Set
This standard playing card set draws inspiration from classic Western imagery and is illustrated in a refined line-work style. The designs feature iconic motifs such as a rugged cowboy figure, weaponry, a cowgirl, saddles, boots, and hats, creating a cohesive and atmospheric visual narrative. Select cards incorporate thoughtful connections between the card value and imagery. For example, the “8” card depicts a bronc rider, referencing the eight-second rule in rodeo culture.
Process
Researching and collecting classic Western imagery was a key first step in developing the card designs. From there, each card face was individually illustrated by hand, allowing for a consistent visual style. After completing the physical drawings, they were digitized to finalize the artwork. The process concluded with selecting a typeface that aligned with the Western theme and arranging precise layouts.
